Kang Yuxin
Bachelor of Arts (Hons) in Convergent Media and Communication Technology (Admitted in AY2023-24)
My name is Jiang Yaqing, Coco. I enrolled at The Hang Seng University of Hong Kong in 2023 and am currently a Year 3 student majoring in Convergent Media and Communication Technology. I am from Xiamen, Fujian.
I chose to study in Hong Kong because I was drawn to its blend of Eastern and Western cultures and its dynamic media industry landscape. As an international hub, Hong Kong offers diverse perspectives, and I hope to refine my professional skills here and become a media practitioner with both global vision and local insight.
The programme at HSUHK deeply impressed me. The Convergent Media and Communication Technology curriculum closely integrates theory and practice, covering ore media knowledge while emphasising technological applications, which aligns perfectly with my career aspirations. The academic atmosphere is open and inclusive, with frequent teacher-student interaction. Lecturers provide targeted guidance that makes learning more effective.
During my studies, I also completed internships at organisations such as the Xiamen Haicang Convergence Media Center and Xiamen Daily, where I gained experience in new media operations and short video production, and contributed to growing social media accounts to over one million followers. These opportunities were made possible by the University’s strong resource support, allowing me to transform classroom knowledge into practical skills. Small-class teaching is another highlight of HSUHK. Classes are lively, and the close teacher-student relationship encourages in-depth discussions on industry cases. Lecturers patiently answer questions and even provide personalised career advice. This interactive learning experience has been incredibly rewarding.
My campus life has been equally vibrant — from participating in national Putonghua competitions and data journalism contests, to leading creative design projects for the University’s Career Expo and winning championships. High Table Dinners and collaborative competition preparations have all become treasured memories. Here, I have not only enhanced my professional abilities, but also learned independence and teamwork in a diverse environment.
